Question / Help Using OBS with YouTube

YouTube Live Streaming

I really do not like twitch.tv since I already have a gathering on YouTube. Therefore, I would rather stream on YouTube, since I have Live enabled on my partner account.

I go into Broadcast Settings and change the "Streaming Service" to "custom." I then add go to "other encoders" option on YouTube Live setup page and copy my "Stream Name" and "Primary Server URL" into OBS. I then click apply.

After this I go into YouTube and start my stream and prime up OBS by clicking "start streaming." But once I do that, the program hangs for about three seconds and comes up with the error: "Could not connect to server." I'm not sure why this is not working, as I am fairly certain I entered everything in correctly.

The quote above was taken from this thread:
viewtopic.php?f=5&t=152&hilit=youtube

Basically, I am in the exact same scenario:

-Prefer to use YouTube due to follower base
-Live streaming enabled on my YouTube partner account
-Copy and paste "Stream Name" and "Primary Server URL" into OBS.
-After clicking "Start Streaming", program hangs for a few seconds and give error: "Could not connect to server"

No solution was left in the above thread, and I am wondering if there is one.

Thanks in advance.

YouTube seems to work fine for me. Make sure you are splitting your URL correctly:

YouTube Stream Name: Use this as the Play Path / Stream Key
YouTube Server URL: rtmp: //a.rtmp.youtube.com/videolive?sparams=id%2Citag%2Cns%2Cexpire&itag=34&ipbits=0&expire=xxx&key=yt_qc&signature=xxx&ns=yt-live&id=xxx

Would be split into channel / server as shown:

Going to try to get a proper URL entry in the future. It's a bit convoluted the way it's currently set up in the app.

Thank you for the prompt response. Using R1CH's suggestion, I managed to have the stream up and running within seconds.

Leaving this followup message for the search engine crawlers and others who may be experiencing the same issue.

I cant I need help btw OBS is awesome!
The screenshot above is from an older version of OBS and is a bit out of date.

Here is a page on YouTube about setting up streaming clients for YouTube: https://support.google.com/youtube/bin/ ... &ctx=topic

In OBS broadcast settings, select Custom streaming service. YouTube should tell you your Stream Name and and Primary Server. Enter Stream Name into the Stream Key box, and Primary Server into the FMS server box. Then you should be good to go.
