I have been using OBS and a conceptronic USB AV capture card to live stream a camcorder.
It's just for bradcasting some school student's perfomances and shows, and it was working ok and easy but, of course, with mediocre quality.
Now the schools wants to broadcast the child's performances in HD as they got a HD camcorder and a huge boost to his upload speed. So, after some talking i'm about to purchase for then a Hauppagge PVR rocket to capture their Canon Camcorder, because the camcorder does not suppor USB streaming.
Of course, this will work. But after some research here about OBS and the PVR Rocket I'm a bit confused. If i understood it correctly, I can not use the Hauppauge as a video source in OBS. So, unless I'm mistaken, I have to stream the desktop and use the Hauppauge software to show the cam.
That works, sure, but I'm not the person who will be doing the stream but a clueless local priest, so I try to avoid dual monitor setups and I want to make it as easy as possible for them.
So. Am I right?, or can you use any HD video capture card as a source in OBS and avoid completely streaming the desktop?.
