Hi all,

We have a YouTube channel that we used to conduct a lot of live broadcasts;
YouTube supported live broadcasts via Hangouts on Air, very easy;
Sadly, YouTube no longer supports Hangouts.

We would like to set-up an OBS environment similarly to Hangouts

a/ Start the live stream, link to YouTube to start the live broadcast;
note: I've managed to achieve this, however we do not know how to add Scenes and respective audio &/or video sources from guests connected via the Internet

question:
1/ May I ask you please to advise availability of any open-source free of charge App a guest can install on their iOS or Android device in order to join in remotely the live broadcast?

thanks in advance for any help

Hi

I’ve managed to get it working flawless

1/ Installed Skype for content creators on a central computer and enabled “NDI Access”
2/ Installed OBS on a central computer
3/ Installed OBS NDI Plug in on a central computer, to allow OBS to access live feeds from Skype via NDI
4/ Started YouTube Studio via a web browser, and YouTube recognises immediately OBS as a decoder/live streaming software

Fire up Skype for content creators on a central computer, make several Skype calls to remote guests.
Remote guests use their Skype apps installed on their SmartPhones (iOS or Android), computers, laptops, etc.
Skype supports video calls or audio only.

Once Skype for content creators running on a central computer has all Skype calls, fire up OBS having NDI as plug in

Under Scenes, create a separate scene for each guest.
Select the Scene for a particular guest and add a NDI source for it.
Under the NDI source for the guest, select the Skype call associated to a particular guest.

OBS screen will show a content square related to the remote guest feed (via SmartPhone or computer).
Remote guest can enable/disable video via Skype screen

When all remote guest content is present on OBS screen, fire up a browser and go to YouTube Studio.
Select live stream and click the button Go Live.
YouTube and OBS shall be synchronised and YouTube shall use OBS as a decoder software and source of live streaming.

Go back to OBS and press the button Start Streaming.

YouTube live streaming shall start running having all remote guests connected via Skype.
Skype communicates to OBS via NDI.

Hope This Helps (HTH)

Thank you for those very clear instructions.

How do you handle having more than 4 guests? Can skype callers call in during the live stream and be added as a scene? We are planning a 6 hour Telethon.

Any idea how to do this on a Mac? Thanks :)

Use Skype for Content Creators - it is available for Mac.
Go to Settings -> Calling -> Advanced (Enable Allow NDI Usage).
