Question / Help Using Image Mask feature in one scene BUT not the other (same camera)

Hi, Hopefully the title says it all:

1. I'm preparing a mini TV show and have one camera on me (in the "studio") whilst I'm playing keyboard.

2. A guest, in a remote location (this is still lock-down btw) will be leading the music on his guitar and streaming to our group (him and me) on FB.

3. Whilst introducing him (verbally) I will be taking up the whole 16:9

4. After the introduction, I will cut to the next scene, where he will take the whole 16:9 as a Window.

5. I will then appear on top of his window, off to the side, in a relatively small, masked, circle.

My problem, at present, is that, having set up the scene in 5. (which works fine), when I go back to check on the previous scene (described in 3.) I now appear in the circle I set up in 5.

I thought that each scene would be treated separately so I was surprised to find myself suddenly in the circle, in 3. as well as 5.

I tried deleting the camera source in 3. and re-adding it, under another name, but that didn't seem to be allowed.

Any ideas?

Many thanks!

Mike

Add the un-masked camera to a Group in the scene where you want it masked, then apply an image mask filter to the Group.

Filters applied directly to a Source are global. This allows people to color-correct the source once, or crop it down, essentially 'prep' it on the source itself, then any per-scene changes are applied to the group it's a member of (even if it's the only thing in that group). Used to be a lot harder, you had to make a separate scene entirely which contained that source, then add the scene as a source to other scenes, and apply the filters to that holder-scene.

Woo-Hoo, thank you so much FerretBomb, that's wonderful!

Works wonderfully well and thanks for this workaround
