Hi guys.

I just bought a Cannon EOS 7D, and was wondering if any1 here have figured out a way to use this, or other cannon DSLRs, as webcam for streaming?

Obviously, i could "restreaming" the image from EOS utility live preview, but this means that the eos utility window has to be open at all times, which is a pain in the ass.

Any tips for how i could make this work without a live preview running at all times?

Regards, Landolur.

Most DSLR camera programs do not have DirectShow drivers, so outside of capturing the preview window, the only other way to do it is to use a capture card.

^cap card is best bet.
I was in the same boat as you and wanted to use my sony NEX vg30 as webcam.
I bought an avermedia C985 and it worked..but was disappointed with color output.
C985 works great with games.
I suggest getting an actual broadcast cap card.

I am currently looking at the decklink cards from blackmagic

Maybe wrong to reply to such old topic, but nowadays there a program called "sparkocam" which installs 2 sets of drivers. 1 of them can be used as an capture device. Sparkocam much be running in background or tray. But you can directly capture it from the driver/filter.

Canon and Nikon DSLR are working on it.
