Question / Help User region and window capturable? Dimensions?

Before I evaluate OBS I have some questions:

From what I have read so far about OBS I got the impression that only the whole desktop is recordable.

Can I record user defined regions as well?

Can I record only some windows as well?

Is it required that the window or region dimension has a multiple of 2 or 4 to be captured successfully?
Some codecs have such requirements.

Monitor and window capture have sub region selection. These are answers you could have found if you installed the program and tested it out ;) As for your third question, I'm not sure.

While, mrmcpowned is certainly correct, you could have just tested all this within 1-2 minutes ;), your answer to question 3: There is no restriction like that in obs, as far as I know.

Hmm, its not that obvious as you predict. I did the following so far:

1.) After download and installation I went to broadcast settings and selected Mode="File Output" and entered a path+filename + "Apply" button
2.) Then I clicked "Start recording" button in the main window

Now I expected something like a definition dialog window prompting me what to record with the buttons:
- full screen
- window
- region
When I would click "window" button something like a flashing rectangle should be visible indicating the currently selected window to record and which can be changed by the mouse cursor.
This is the procedure like similar other screen recording software tools work.

But I miss it all in OBS.
How do I define in detail e.g. the Firefox browser window as window to record?

Thank you for answers
Peter

BTW: How do I tell OBS window to automatically hide when recording starts?
