Actually, the biggest advantage is that under Win8, Monitor Capture doesn't suck.
If you just use Window/Game captures already though, there's no real advantage.
Down side, Win8 does use more system resources, so you'll have more OS overhead, if you're already running near the limits... may have to dial some stuff back to accommodate.

More resources? In what way? It has no such thing as aero, compared to windows 7 which slurps performance.

Uh... Win8 absolutely still has Aero (even if they may have called it something else to separate it). They just removed the 'Glass' themes, and the semi-blur it used. The underlying framework is still present, just without the ability to turn it off now.
If anything, Win7's Aero hit was lesser than Win8's continued bloat.

While Win8(.1) has aero always on, it to me felt a lot better than the Win7 aero system. It is also currently the best system to do Monitor captures and window captures work just fine. The RAM usage of Win8.1 is a bit lower than my earlier Win7 installation. All in all, although I deactivate everything Metro, I switched my second PC to win8 a week after switching my main, and will not move back :)
