Question / Help Upgraded Internet Speed... Yet can't stream better?

So I posted last week about my setup:

  • Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2500K CPU @ 3.30GHz (4 CPUs), ~3.3GHz
  • Memory: 8192MB RAM
  • Card name: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 3GB
  • Current Mode: 1680 x 1050 (32 bit) (60Hz)
  • Native Mode: 1680 x 1050(p) (59.883Hz

I had 1mb upload at the time. I managed to upgrade my internet speed to 6MB Upload and now I can't seem to play some games?

I tried Binding of Isaac for sometime and it worked just fine, but games like Metal Gear Rising wouldn't run at ALL. I tried everything possible. What's going on?

Can someone help me?

There is no way in hell you are going to be able to stream at 1680x1050 with the computer hardware you got at 6Mbps upload. You need at least 10Mbps to even get decent quality and a CPU way more powerful than an i5. Your GPU card is fine but everything else, no way.

You are going to have to stream at a lower resolution. Your log says this:

19:02:44.069: video settings reset:
19:02:44.069: base resolution: 1680x1050
19:02:44.069: output resolution: 1680x1050

That is almost close to doing 1080p. And above 720p.

Change the output resolution to 720p (1280x720) and use Lanczos. Your computer is not strong enough to attempt high resolution and frame rates.

Thank you for the help. That worked great but I'm running into another problem now.

My stream works for about a minute and then it just cuts off. OBS says I'm online but on Twitch I'm offline. What gives?

That could be a w hole lot of different things.

Stuff like a poor connection from you to Twitch servers
An improper bitrate setting
Etc.

You can use R1Ch's Twitch analyser:

I would also suggest creating a YouTube account and using the Tools | Autoconfig Wizard to establish a baseline of settings first.
Make sure you document all this stuff so you don't forget it. Then, make subtle adjustments until you arrive at the correct results.

Again thank you for all your help! You're being awesome.

I tried changing games to see if the problem persisted and it didn't. I was playing Metal Gear Rising and the stream cut off at about one minute of broadcast. Now I'm playing Phantasy Star Online for half an hour with no problems so far.

Could that be just a coincidence? I really don't understand a thing about streaming so maybe a "heavier" game would send too much info at once and twitch would cut it off? I don't know...

Also, so you have any more tips for better performance or clearer image? I'm streaming at 2K bitrate. Can I try going for more FPS or is that a no-no and stay at 30?

Sorry if I'm asking too much! >.<
