I've encountered this issue too. Recently I reinstalled Windows and was "forcefully" upgraded to Windows 11 (long story short: usb flash I made from HP's cloud recovery tool installed 11 and now 10) and now OBS studio cannot stay open without freezing entirely. The program becomes unresponsive, screen freezes, and the audio shows some activity before dying too.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled OBS with and without streamelements ad-on, I've turned on high performance and power savings for obs, ran as admin, ran in compatibility mode, adjusted bitrate, resolution sizes, encoders, and nothing has worked. I'm aware that there are issues with Windows 11 that Microsoft recently admitted to (a bit one being a degradation of HD/SSD/NVMe performances) and I'm sure that with time this will get resolved.
Oddly enough, streamlabs OBS doesn't have as many issues and runs mostly fine. It's frozen on me twice in the last two days and yesterday I had a massive performance issue as a result of streamlabs but no cpu/gpu/ram spikes at all. For the time being I'm going to use Streamlabs OBS until I can manage to downgrade the OS back to Windows 10 but until then, I've got this issue like the rest of yall. Maybe the devs will be able to find a fix for this soon.
Side note: The freezes on OBS happen regardless of recording or streaming and yes, I've tried turning hardware acceleration off and on and there's no difference.
