Question / Help Unstable Fps causing lag

Hey Guys!

I had this problem since i started using OBS.

My System: Intel Core i5 2500
Saphire 7870
8gb Ram

I Stream @ 1280x720 on 30fps, but sometimes the fps drop to around 25 which is causing some lag for the viewers. I know that because many complained about lag on my Stream but if they checked other streamers there was no lag so definetly about my Stream

I tried CFR and some other settings it just always happens.

Anyone knows how to fix this or is it just about the program still having trouble with this.

checking the log this is more related to your connection to twitch than to your video fps.

pick another server (uk for example) since frankfurt is known for having issues lately. and also revert back the changes you have done on the advanced tab

you should also not use cbr just yet.

You don't want to use CFR. It's more of a file output compatibility option. CBR is fine though.

As for your issue, monitor capture is the poorest performing capture method. Window capture and game capture especially are far better performing in comparison. Only on windows 8 is monitor capture high-speed.

Also if using test builds, make sure to update to the latest one (8 as of this writing).

I tried using the Load balancing service for streaming server and I had a lot better results with this than when I tried individual server picks (Tried all EU ones).

Is there a "best practise" to picking servers for stability other then the ping-tool? It's not that great since it will not show the common Frankfurt issues.

I don't think there is any other way as for my problem.

As for my problem I tried everything u guys told me and still I'm having the same problem. Sometimes the stream just gets a minfreeze due to fps dropping from 30 to 25. In my opinion its really annyiong to watch as i looked through the replays. My question is it that about OBS not being able to do stable fps or just simply me not being able to properly set it up?

So i figured out that the problem is that my cpu for some reason doesn't prioritize OBS high enough too make it stable fps. But even if i changed it in the Task Manager and in OBS it still won't help.

My cpu usage is around 75-80% when i stream and play at the same time

Anyone knows what could help me?
