Hey OBS peeps,
I put a ton of effort into my streaming computer - 3970x 32 cores, 128 GB RAM, 2080ti. I use the Elgato 4K PCIE capture card. I use remote desktop to manage the streaming computer and see the stream using the preview. The streaming computer itself was plugged into 2 4K monitors over standard DisplayPort.
I kept running into issues where I was skipping a ton of frames due to encoding lag. Sometimes up to 90%+. It didn't make any sense to me. I thought it was maybe because I was using RDP, but then I would start and manage the stream directly from the computer and it would still have issues.
I finally just unplugged one of the monitors that the streaming computer was plugged into, and now I am getting 0 dropped frames and am able to record at 4K 60 FPS and stream at 1080P 60 FPS.
I am not sure why unplugging the second monitor fixes everything, can anyone explain this? Happy to post logs if it would be helpful.
