Windows 10 Pro, Version 20H2, OS Build 19042.928
OBS Studio 26.1.1 (64 bit)
In order to understand OBS Studio audio, I need to first understand how Windows handles audio which is rather confusing.
I am looking at the following Windows 10 sound windows:
* App volume and device preferences
* Volume Mixer
The settings are the following:
Master volume
Output: Speakers (High Definition Audio Device)
Google Chrome
Output: Speakers (High Definition Audio Device)
Mozilla Firefox
Output: ASUS VE278 (NVIDIA High Definition Audio)
I am simultaneously playing different music from Firefox and Chrome.
The music coming from Google Chrome is going to the Speakers (High Definition Audio Device).
The music coming from Firefox is going to the ASUS VE278 speaker.
The Volume Mixer shows Mozilla Firefox, but no sound from Mozilla Firefox is going to the Speakers (High Definition Audio Device).
So why does Mozilla Firefox appear in the Volume Mixer panel since no sound from it goes to the Master Volume speaker?
In general, how is Windows handling the audio?
Is there any clearly written detailed documentation somewhere?
Thank you in advance for the feedback.
