Question / Help Unable to select Hardware encoder in newest version

Hey there,

I recently updated my OBS Studio to the latest version. Before the update, I was able to select my AMD encoder and did so as it produced the best results for my laptop. In the recent update, however, I am no longer able to select this option. I have checked my Driver versions and they are all up to date. Any ideas?

How are you checking that your drivers are up to date?

Through Windows Device Manager... I don't know where do download the AMD Utility software

From the AMD website.
Windows device manager is painfully far behind on video card drivers.

Hello, my drivers are also up to date, and I did the latest update for OBS, and I am not able to select my Hardware Encoder. Is there going to be a fix for this coming out?

I had to downgrade to version 20.1.3 to get hardware encoding available on the output settings page. when I had upgraded to 21.0.1 , it only had x264 (software) which locked up my pc while I was streaming and playing a cpu intensive game.

Those are not the latest drivers, latest ones are from 18-01-2018 as per AMD's website.

To the rest of the people, update your drivers as has been stated before.
