I'm not sure what settings to use to have OBS record audio on a screen record from all sources (my mic and computer audio) while wearing a headset without having audio output to the laptop's speakers as well as my headset... this is driving me crazy. I've gone through every setting I can think of and if I get speakers to work right then it doesn't pick up me or the audio coming from the computer.
So for example I use Window Capture for a Google Chrome tab (though it doesn't matter which browser or window or app I'm recording) with my headset plugged in (which has a mic) and a cam (which I only need for recording my face)... of course if I use the cam mic then I can unplug the mic headset and I won't have the problem of two audio outputs.
I have to mute Desktop Audio while recording to prevent the audio from duplicating out of the laptop speakers even while my headset is plugged in and I can hear through there too... the green bar on Mic/Aux moves when there's sounds from my mic, only that audio is recorded, and none from the computer because I've muted the computer speaker so I don't get duplicate audio (which will also be recorded). Sometimes this duplicated audio is a bit out of sync and becomes an echo, so I have to disable it.
Here's the other half of the bottom part of my OBS window:
I think the issue is that I need to somehow enable computer audio as well as mic, but I'm not seeing how to do that. I thought it automatically routed both in by default... I mean, why wouldn't I want that? I don't know; I've always wanted that.
When I click the gear icon next to Mic/Aux, I see this:
The checkbox under the Device drop-down - "Use Device Timestamps" - is unchecked because I don't know what exactly that does and I don't think I need it anyway (nor do I think it's related to the problem I'm having).
I think "Microphone Array (Realtek High Definition Audio)" is my computer's default mic, and I don't need it also picking up audio along with my headset mic... what's strange is that even though I have "Default" selected, the headset mic is picking up. Of course, I may be misreading this, and "Microphone Array" may refer to the laptop's mic OR my headset mic (which it may set itself to when I plug in the headset, and Default may be set to "Microphone Array").
Anyway, maybe I've missed something obvious, but I don't think my computer is unusual... I just haven't stumbled on the exact configuration to combine both whatever mic I'm using and computer audio to the recording without duplicating audio output to two separate places.
