Question / Help unable to hear both desktop and capture audio

hello i'm a total noob and i am unable to hear both desktop and capture audio at the same time. if i select "capture audio only" obviously i only see the capture audio moving but can't hear it. when i select "output desktop audio" i can hear the audio but there's no audio movement on the capture audio meter nor is there any sound on the playback (recorded playback)
i can't figure out how to have the capture audio play through my headphones and be picked up when recording. i can do one or the other only right now

i think i know what your taking about. go to the gear next to desktop audio right click it then go to advanced then click which ever source to want to hear and the stream to hear and select monitor and output
