Question / Help Unable to get Display Capture to work

Could someone kindly point me to the right settings to capture the entire display?

I am using Windows 10 on a computer with an AMD Radeon graphics card. The Radeon settings untility reports that I have a AMD Radeon R5 M435 chipset (discrete/switchable) and also reports that I have AMD Radeon R7 Graphics. According to Windows settings the displays are both Acer KG271 and are connected to the R7 graphics; 1920x1080 resolution, 75Hz refresh; bit depth 8; colour format RGB; standard dynamic range.

Whilst I can capture and record all or part of a window, all I get when attempting Display Capture on either display is a black screen.

Is there a setting somewhere in either OBS or the Graphics card I have missed or got wrong? Or is it something else?

I've attached the most recent log file but not sure whether or not it is relevant.

Thanks, John

Since posting I have had another look round on the internet and found a YouTube video that suggested changing a Radeon setting.

The video is at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFFJwOeGt4k but, on my machine at least, the setting to change is not where he quotes. I found it in the Radeon settings under System > Switchable Graphics. Changing the R7 entry from 'not assigned' to 'power saving' has cured the problem and I can now see full screen as intended.

But why should this make a diiference?

John
