Question / Help Unable to create the file output stream

So, im trying to record something on my PC and save to a file. I have been streaming to Twitch, which works fine, but when i wanna record something and save it to my PC, this is the msg i get:

"Unable to create the file output stream.

Check the path file in Broadcast Settings"

I've seen a lot of people with the same issue, who magically came up with a solution, but are too ignorant to mention what they did.

And i don't need to hear "the path file location blah blah blah", because I have my pathfile location set, its a real location on my harddrive that should be working. I have tried to name the file, make a new folder, change the location from OBS folder to Desktop, i feel like I've tried everything, but nothing is working.

Help much appreciated!

That's the only solution. Set the output path to some location that OBS is able to write to such as a folder on your desktop or documents. If the problem persists, anti-virus or similar software is probably interfering, or your disk is full or something like that.

But I can't even press "Save", when I browse to choose a path, so something must be wrong within the program itself. When I'm in Brodcast Settings and click "Browse" to set the location, it shows the default folder, but only shows either .mp4 or .flv, so I can't press "Save" - whenever I press "Save", it doesnt do anything, even if I change the folder location, it doesnt change it, unless I type it in manually.

Ohhhh, so you have to name the file aswell. So you have to choose the location and THEN type example.mp4 - it doesnt create the file on its own. So that's the problem. You might wanna look into that, cus imo that's pretty confusing and it seems like I'm not the only one who thinks that.

It's the standard Windows "save file" dialog that almost every program uses. Still, this does seem to generate quite a bit of confusion, we're looking into changing this.
