Bug Report Unable to change color of text

Attempting to use text always gives me white text, with no drop shadow.
There is no option to use an outline in the font panel.

Log file is enormously "helpful":
16:43:36.291: coreaudio: device 'JackRouter' initialized
16:43:36.291: source 'Mic/Aux' (coreaudio_input_capture) created
16:43:36.291: source 'Set up' (scene) created
16:43:36.365: source 'Text (FreeType 2)' (text_ft2_source) created
16:43:36.365: source 'Game play' (scene) created
16:43:36.366: source 'Test setup please ignore' (scene) created
16:43:36.427: source 'Status line' (text_ft2_source) created
16:43:36.430: coreaudio: device 'Built-in Microphone' initialized
16:43:36.430: source 'Set default to Usb mic' (coreaudio_input_capture) created
16:43:36.459: source 'Display Capture' (display_capture) created
with no indication of attempting to alter the font properties of the FreeType text.

Specifics:
1. It happens whether I have a fixed line of text, or read from file.
2. From "Select Font", I can change the font itself, no problem.
3. But the "green block" that is text color: no matter what color I choose, the text is still white.
4. The white "paper"/background: no matter what color I choose, nothing is placed behind the letters (so the background is whatever is in the layer behind the text -- whatever is on screen at that location in my case).
5. Even pressing the "T" that turns on the glowing blue box (normally enables drop shadow) doesn't do anything
6. There is no option for outline (which I see on some text boxes).

What font are you using? Does it only affect a specific font? I'm unaware of issues changing text color on mac.

I am having the same problem, let me know if you find a fix :(

I must be misunderstanding the situation. Could you be more specific about the issue? There is no option for text outline (yet).

The issue:

I am always getting plain white text, with no background drawn.

I cannot put any background in at the text layer.
I cannot change the color of the text.
I cannot put any outline on the text.

The problem: It's readable on a dark background; it's not readable if it's a white background. I ran into this while streaming while editing code, instead of testing gameplay; the white background of the editor made it impossible to see my status message on the stream.

I'm getting this same issue as well on a Mac.
(Works fine on my Windows machine with Multiplatform, though!)

Hmm,I'm not seeing the problem. Can you tell us which one is it that doesn't work?
(If the font matters,I'm using Snare Drum One NBP)

I've tried Helvetica , times, New Times Roman and quite a few others. They all stay white and no background color and no drop shadow. The colors and shadow do show up in the preview in the text tool but once I go back to OBS the title is white.

right click on "Text (FreeType 2)" then click on "filters" then right click on the empty box and click "add" and choose "color Corrections" then you should be able to change the text color. Im using obs 0.16.2 (Mac).
