Two display captures show exactly the same since V29

So far I have run OBS for 2 years without this issue, but since the last update (V29.0.2).

I have 2 monitors/displays, where I show in my Scenes the display that is not having OBS on it. But no matter which display I select, it only shows the content if the display where OBS is running on.
Is there a setting I missed out on or is this broken? At the moment I can't use OBS due to this... :-(

Your screenshot shows what one monitor looks like. What about the other? I know you say it's the same, but it's hard to believe without that proof, given most of the other new-user posts on here. :-/

OK, for the ones that want to have prove, please find below the 2 screenshots where you see at the arrows the selection of the 2 displays I have:

Just noticed something. You have a "Desktop share" folder above the "Desktop" source. What's in there?

There's also a "Webcam Logi" in between, which I assumed to be your selfie in the corner, but if the "Desktop share" covers everything and *that's* what we're looking at, then that might be your problem.

That is the "folder" it sits into. This way you can easily enable a group of items. I have this working already since 3 years and never had an issue.
Just to give it a shot, I added a brand new scene trying to add the screen only and it had exactly the same issue.

A monitor driver in OBS? Perhaps I am missing something, but I'm not getting what you want me to try :-)
The issue happens because OBS isn't able to query the monitor's unique ID, so falls back to model name. In your case you have two identical models, so bad things result. I'm wondering if installing the manufacturer's driver helps fix the unique ID issue.

I think it's acting independently. It always should have. Maybe that's a bug that was finally fixed and you came to rely on the bug for your normal operation?

But if a new scene with just that one source only, still does the same thing, then it's not that.

Have you tried installing the monitor driver? Curious if this fixes the problem.

You would install that in Windows, outside of OBS, so that when OBS asks Windows for a particular monitor, Windows can give it the right one.

I installed the monitor driver, but that didn't resolve anything. It could perhaps be the issue that my monitors are of the same type and so they have the same name (which I can't change due to permissions). They both start with the same witn the same until the "@" sign.
Also here, so far in the last 3 years, no problems, only now since the update. I realize things can be changed, but this makes my OBS simply useless to work with.
I have no clue yet how to resolve this.

If a previous version worked, you might try rolling back to it:
(expand the Assets section at the end of each section, to download its installer)

If you're feeling extra helpful, you could install and test all of them in turn to see where the break happened, and report that here so the devs can compare those two versions. (that also gets you the latest version that works) Keep in mind that from v27 to v28 is a major change that breaks a lot of things, so you might not want to cross that boundary unless you have to.

We know why the break happened - we switched to using the unique ID instead of the numerical index (which is subject to change depending on the order monitors are connected). But for some reason the unique ID fails on certain monitors.

Okay. Is there a way in the new version to use the numerical index? Yes, it might have to be rearranged manually from time to time, but working *at all* is still preferable to not working.

I have looked up the release notes from the versions and came to the conclusion that this potentially have changed in V29 (it lists several things about displays). I moved back to V28.1.2 and the issue is resolved. For now at least my presentation do work again, so for the short term resolved, but obviously I would love to go to the latest version. If I can help to resolve it by supplying information/testing or whatsoever, please do let me know.

Thanks for the help so far!!! really appreciated.
