Question / Help TwitchAlerts Issues

Hey guys, not been here in a long time and I see a lot has changed! :)

I'm wondering if anyone here used/uses TwitchAlerts, an overlay to show followers/subscribers/and donations on screen while streaming. I have a couple of issues with this and i'm wondering if anyone could help me.

1) Sound notifications don't work for followers and donations. I've tried all sorts of MP3 files both long and short in length, the notification still pops up and works but there's no sound.

2) I've linked my Twitch account with streamdonations.net, followed the correct instructions to get it set up (correct channel name/API key/correct link to donate though) and the donation messages do not show up at all though I do get the donations into my PayPal account.

I've tried deleting the programme, messing around with settings no no avail. The only thing that works for me is the follower notification but with no sound, i'd be very grateful if anyone could help out.

Thanks!

Buchtis, I use TwitchAlerts; there's a lot of reasons this could be happening. Have you tried using the 'test animation' button in the individual notifier settings? Is the volume up? MP3 overly long? Have you read the readme? You may also want to try PM'ing Redkwind on Twitch at twitch.tv/subalert to help with troubleshooting.

If you attach the MP3 you're trying to use (or PM me for an email address to mail it over) I can give it a shot on my copy or see if I can see anything wrong with the file itself.

Hi Ferret,

What basically happens when I try and select a custom MP3 is always a crash. I click 'Select', select my MP3 and then click 'Open' and it instantly crashes with 'TwitchAlerts has stopped working'. Even when I don't try and use a custom file size and I use the default 'Beep.Mp3' there's no sound at all even with the application turned up all the way and the slider itself turned up all the way. It's like the programme kind of works but not fully and I don't know what's causing the issue.

Hello there,
Im the creator of TwitchAlerts.
Regarding the MP3 file, if you could please upload it and send it to me in a PM to SubAlert on twitch i will gladly give it a try on my end.
Most likely that is a unsupported audio file (that is the only reason that could crash the program) but im not sure why it could be happening to you.
About the donations, also in the PM with the link to the sound file, send me your channel and API Key (you can reset it after we are done testing) and let me know when we can meet on your chat so we can test it.

I will be waiting for your PM.

Have a good one and hope to hear from you soon.

Thanks for your quick reply!

It's any MP3 sound file, long or short. Even the default Beep.MP3 crashes the programme, it's like sounds and donations just don't want to work but the follower bar works fine (without sound).

Ignore the volume slider, I turned it all the way up after I took this screenshot and there's still no audio.

My PC spec is on my channel if you need to see it.

I think it could be the following:

1) I don't have Windows Media Player installed, I use VLC instead.

2) Do I need a specific Micropsoft Framework installed? Any additional programmes?

You bring a good point, Im afraid that since its a windows app it uses nativelly the WMP to run the sounds. I might add a secondary media element so users like you have a work around it.

About the framework pretty much anything higher than 4.0 should do it.

Hi thanks for the reply. I assumed that the majority of people would use VLC as it plays everything without needing a codec and is highly customizable. I have framework 4.5 installed so hopefully that should be O.K.

Is there anything I can do to make the donations work?

Thanks very much for all your hard work on the programme, I donated a while back and will donate again soon!

Looking forward to more updates, again thank you! :)

I've reset the API key and will give the donations thing another go today. Is there any reason why it isn't working? Could the issue have something to do with the sound notifications?
