Question / Help Twitch Chat

I stream a weather station to Twitch so understandably I am not on during the stream as much as a gamer would be.
I notice, when I leave twitch during my stream my chat box is cleared so when I do come back there is nothing there.

Is this by Twitch design or is there a setting on Twitch I am not aware of that wont automatically clear my chat box when I am not on the site but my stream is active???

when you say "chat box" do you mean the chat portion of your channel page? If so, the chat will only save, to a limited degree, if you leave the chat page open when you physically leave and come back later. If you close the browser window, that chat data is gone.

That being said, if you have your Twitch channel set up to archive your broadcasts automatically, Twitch archives the chat activity as well, and you can review the chat logs in real time while playing back the archive.
