Question / Help Turn off ingame sound on OBS

Hello,

I recently started streaming world of warcraft pvp and i use an addon that announces everything that happens. This addon is really annoying on stream. Now what i want is to hear the ingame sound on my headphones and not on the stream. I've done a bit of research and i saw a post which said that i had to use DFX to fix this problem. Now i downloaded and installed DFX but i have no clue how to set this up.

Can anyone help me with it or have another solution to my problem?

Thanks,

Joey

No idea what DFX is or does, but you can use a software like vb-cable or virtual audio cable to exclude sound off your stream. It depends on a few factors though, for example if WoW allows to select the audio output device, it will be much easier.
You will want to set it up so the virtual audio cable receives your desktop sound and music, and wow could go to your headset directly. Then you can also forward the sound from your desktop and music to your headset if wanted.
If WoW does not allow to select the output device you can at least split it from music (your music player needs to allow to select the output device though). In this case WoW would go to your default playback device (use your headset for that) and set the music to go to your Virtual audio cable, then you set OBS to record that virtual audio cable as your desktop device.
See our guide: Exclude Audio sources off your stream or recording

Oh, switch to the recording tab and check the options of Line 1 there :) Listen to is a windows feature only available on recording devices, but in our case with VAC that is fine.

Thanks, so now the on the playback panel, Line 1 is my default device and on the recording panel i got Line 1 Listen to my headphones right?

What is my audio output in the game then? Headphones or Line 1 (not be heared on stream)
And what is my audio device on OBS then (heared on stream, skype and music) '

Thanks!

If you can select the audio output in your game, choose your Headphones and in OBS you would then select Line1.
Then OBS would only hear the music and skype from Line1. But you would hear everything in your headphones.

Hey,

Yes i did exactly as you said. However the game sound still is on the stream.
Line 1 listens to headset
ingame sound output = headset
obs audio device = line 1

Could you tell me what i'm doing wrong?

Thanks!

Hmm if the sound from wow still comes through in OBS, that would mean it still uses your default playback device (Line 1). Were you able to select the audio device in WoW to tell it to use your headset?
