Question / Help Trying to stream the Division - What is my bottleneck?

I have an i5 2500k and GTX 970 - neither OCed

I can run the game at "high" settings with a consistent 60 fps. However, when I attempted to stream, my in game fps dropped to ~50 and the stream was not watchable with lots of lag. Also, I was received that red texted error message in the bottom left corner of OBS indicating issues encoding due to CPU.

While streaming and playing the game my CPU usage was high around 95%. Further, my upload speed is not great at 1200 kps. My x264 setting is at "very fast".

Ultimately, I just wanted to get your thoughts on what the bottleneck is - Would I be able to stream the Division by ultimately raising my upload speed? Or does it require a new CPU? Or a combination?

Thank you!

We'd need to see a log file to say definitively.

Estimating wildly though, The Division is an extremely CPU-hungry game, and is visually complex on top of that which raises the encoder load as well (so even MORE CPU needed).
For 1200kbps, I'd assume you're trying to stream around 480p@30fps? That's about all that bitrate will support, even with a CPU-light game.

Yes, your CPU is the bottleneck. It's almost everyone's bottleneck, when it comes to streaming The Division.
