Question / Help Trying to stream but sides of stream are black

When I try to stream with OBS, it works, but the sides of it are black and there's no way for me to stretch the image to fix it. I've tried a couple of things like adjusting the screen and resetting stuff, but I can't figure out why it's doing that. Please help.

Okay, if this is an aspect ratio problem (for example, let's say your monitor width relative to the height is smaller than the twitch players), then that's not a problem, and doesn't need to be "fixed" by stretching. There are better solutions than stretching your image. Filling in the blanks with some background image for example is a far better solution than stretching your capture image. Just set your base resolution to the resolution you want to stream at with the proper aspect ratio and fill in the blanks.

I tried what you said, it didn't work. I can't fill the black space with an image because it won't let me do anything to it at all, if that makes sense. I tried the aspect ratio before as well when a friend told me about it. Thanks for the help though

What you'll have to do is set your Base Resolution in OBS to something in 16:9 aspect ratio (1920x1080, 1280x720, etc) and then fill the rest of your OBS scene with some kind of filler, like pictures or chat, something along those lines.

Okay, what resolution is your monitor, and what base resolution are you streaming at? If your monitor resolution is much lower than the standard 1920x1080, and you're trying to use 1920x1080 as your base resolution, then you need to either resize the sources (using edit scene button and resizing them yourself), or resize the base resolution.

You just generally don't seem to have your sources set up and sizes are just mismatching. Get the sizes matching, fill in the black sides however you want, and you should be good to go.
