Question / Help Tried the PPA on Debian...

Using 64-bit Intel, Gnome 3. Added both the PPAs as dodgepong instructs in the pinned thread here: https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/ubuntu-14-04-ppa-installation-instructions.16495/

They both updated fine, but this is the last message when I attempt to install:

"
Package ffmpeg is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source

E: Package 'ffmpeg' has no installation candidate
E: Unable to locate package obs-studio
"

Thanks in advance for any help.

Add the Jon Severinsson ffmpeg PPA, then update.

I just added the other because I already used Jon's. However that has lead to the same problem.

How do I remove these repositories? I imagine I can't just keep adding repositories especially with the same packages.

In Settings Manager/Software & Updates/Other software tab. You can also get there through Synaptic package manager under repositories. Uncheck or remove the JS PPA, reload and try again.

That PPA is for Ubuntu, not for Debian.

That PPA is for Ubuntu, not for Debian.

this is a very common misconception. sadly people are just uninformed regarding this. even spotify's website states to use the debian stable
