Question / Help Traffic Shaping

Since I use comcast and shaperprobe shows that my down and up speed is being shaped, can I call Comcast and ask about it? Is there anything they can do? Because I pay about 150$ a month for internet, phone, and cable. I hate having my bandwidth cut in half.

Because of Traffic Shaping, I am limited on my stream quality and it just sucks.

Edit: With a little research, I found out there's nothing I can do.

Any ISPs that don't shape traffic?

What comcast doesnt really show is that most of their Download and Upload speeds they advertise are with PowerBoost, i assume you have the performace internet tier? the actual speeds are 16Mbpsdownload and 2Mbps Upload. but up to 25Mbps and 4Mbps with powerboost, the only thing i can tell you to do, if you cant find another ISP in your area with a better upload speed, is to upgrade to the Boost internet Tier which has 30Mbps download and 4Mbps Upload and thats without powerboost.

I was on the same plan as you, but then i upgraded my triple play bundle, after talking with them i was able to get the upgraded package at the same price i was paying for the performance package at $150, for a whole year. and then it will raise $10 for the 2nd year.
Maybe talk with them and you might be able to get the upgrade with the discount?

in my area Comcast/Xfinity is the only ISP that has the best speeds, unfortunately.

United states internet service is horrible, and they don't care, and they never will care, and they never will innovate or upgrade their systems because.. why? They have no one to compete with (they've made sure of that), even in my area comcast and cox apparently have a deal not to compete with each other and have split the entire city in half because competing costs more money than cooperating. They'll even do things like detect that you're running speedtest and they'll artificially improve the speed just for that test to deceive users into thinking they actually have good service when in fact, they don't.

Oh and they'd love nothing more than to establish bandwidth caps and charge for going over the cap, despite the fact that it costs them nothing. Bandwidth caps are the future! Canada is thinking ahead! I mean, why not? Great business, money money money. Who cares about the actual users? Pheh! Users. Money is where it's all at for them. Users are just a tool to get that money, nothing more. Why do you think they use the term "consumer" when referring to customers?

I feel your pain Jim.
My internet isn't really that bad. It's perfect for gaming, normal internet browsing, downloading etc. It's just, streaming is horrible. I never thought I would actually wish I had a fast upload speed (never streamed in the past).

I will defiantly call about upgrading my service. Although, I am moving in a couple months so I'm not sure if it's worth it (maybe it is if I can transfer the internet to my new location).

i don't understand the logic behind providing mainly a package that deliver 5% upload compared to the download speed. i know people wanna download and stuff but seriously ? you should be glad if they think of you as consumers. the truth is more like bandwidth suckers
