Track outputs merging into 1 audio file

Hi! Love the idea of this software but my output audio files are not containing multi tracks.
I've watched tutorials and read through many forum posts but still cannot get separate output tracks. I have the desktop audio and microphone enabled which does appear on audio meter and all working. In 'Output/Advanced/Audio/Audio Track' settings I have 1-3 tracks enabled, then in 'Advanced Audio Properties' have enabled No1 being only desktop audio, 2 as only my microphone, and 3 with both inputs selected. My recorded file appears as Mkv file.
I transfer this file to VLC player or into Videopad and only 1 audio track can ever be found of the 3 expected tracks. This single track appears as a stereo track containing both of the audio inputs, BUT no amount of trial and changes so far can get my 2 audio inputs to output as separate audio tracks. Can someone guide me through this as Ive run out of options? Thanks

See this article and make sure you properly assigned sources to tracks in advanced audio properties and properly activated the tracks to write in Settings > Output > Recording > Audio track:
