Totally lost newbie

I thought I could handle this myself, but I find myself so totally lost. All I am trying to do is copy my personal vcr tapes to my computer so I can get rid of my vcr.
My first time, I got audio, but no video.
The second time I got video with no audio and the video was choppy (looked like it was fast forwarding through the whole thing)
Now, I can't get either one.
Is there an instruction - stepbystep - or a video to watch that will help me with this?
I'm using windowa 10 and a Memorex MVD4543A. it plays both dvds and video tapes but does not record on dvd.
Thanks for any help you can offer

That specific job can get surprisingly technical. One reason it might not work is:
Just replace the recording VCR with your capture card, and everything probably still applies.

And even if that's not your problem, cheap capture cards seem to lose sync just because they feel like it. Then the picture de-centers from the frame and wraps around the edges instead, sometimes rapidly.

The solution in both cases is to get a different capture card, but a guaranteed good one can be expensive. For HDMI captures, I'd expect $100 per channel, but you're not doing that. A good composite video capture might be cheaper, but you probably still want to look at name brands, and not just sort the generic search results by price.

I have just downloaded THE ndi 5 RUNTIME plugin to use with my windows 11 pc version of OBS. Unfortunately, i do not see the NDI plugin listed in the tools menu after install. I have the virus program/windows defender disabled as well. I have even tried moving the .dll files to the obs studio/plugin folders but that does not work as well. the nomenclature of the ndi 5 files start with Processing. per file which i though was strange but nonetheless still nothing. I tried installing the teleport plugin and that worked perfectly and I was able to see it in OBS. Please help. Thank you.

able to get the NDI plugin setup. i was missing the .zip file as well. in any event, i setup the ndi on one laptop which i have called main audio. The only source feed from this laptop is the audio which is coming from my DJ mixer. The other pc, which i will call the streaming pc has all the video scenes. i verified the NDI plugin was installed successfully on that pc as well. i went ahead and selected ndi as the source to add on th streaming pc but when i went to the drop down, the other pc is not showing up for me to select it as the source. this is where i am now at.

Don't know where you meant to post that, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't here.
