Total Beginner -- OBS Won't record

I click start recording. Talk, and nothing is recorded! I expect this is an idiot error but how do I OBS to record?

Thnks. I did, and read a lot more as well. However, there are some basic things I am doing wrong. I have a video capture device diplaying my presentation. A Dis[play Capture Device displaying the target of my webcam. I click "Start Recording", deliver a presentation. Click "Stop Recording". Then, I expect to replay the recording when I click "Start Streaming", but no sound comes out.

What am I doing wrong? Thanks.
 
The "Start streaming" button does the same capturing as "Start recording", with the difference it will publish the created video to the streaming service you configured for the world to see. It isn't a video playback function. If you didn't configure any streaming service, nothing will happen except perhaps some error message.

To watch the video file you created with the recording button, open File > Recordings and play back the created video with the media player of your choice.
 
Update: Well, all the recordings appear to b e in a directory named videos.
Enfuriating not to have a button to press to play a recording.
