Hello. I've been reading the OBS literature line by line, over and over for about two months now! AND STILL CAN'T CONNECT to my iShout stream

Everyone pipes in with THEIR unique setup and "it works" but my forehead is bloody and bruised beating it on OBS

I read the log files each time it FAILS TO CONNECT, searching for any clue. Well I give up!

And everyone involved points the finger at someone else....their streaming reseller, Centova Cast, iShout...anyone but themselves.

Does this REALLY WORK?? I'd like to know HOW

Log file attached.

I can say that OBS (in general) works well on Linux. That said, I've never streamed to iShout, and when trying to do a Google search for "iShout Streaming" a few different providers come up. Can you link to any of the iShout company's streaming ingest info?

The log you posted shows no streaming attempts, just opening and closing OBS, so I can't comment on the nature of the error, and your description above doesn't include any details or screenshots of the error posted by OBS so I recommend that you post a log that has a streaming attempt (or 2 or 3) in it, and provide more details if you can.

If it doesn't attempt to connect, i don't know WHY. settings settings settings. a million different buttons and apparently only by chance can I ever discover the ONE combination that works? Even with all this amazing documentation to guide me?

what is ingest info?

As far as I can tell iShout IS the one and only stream provider by that name. And yet you say you find several. Amazing. I can't.

A screenshot of the error? Its a dialog box that tells me "OBS failed to connect" and an OK button. Does that tell YOU anything?

And if it isn't in the log file, WHERE am I gonna find the info you want?

Really, really REALLY frustrated. I can read and follow written directions quite well. And ever tom richard and hairy seems to do it first try.
WHAT IS GONG ON!!!! HELLLP!!!

If you want to stream to some place, said place usually have a web page that details what settings you need to enter into your program of choice (OBS in this case) to stream to them. It'll have something like an IP address or DNS name for an Ingest Server, some require a password or username, and almost all require some type of stream key.

If you have an account with iShout, you should be able to contact them, ask for this info, and if they have a web page with this info on it. If they supply you with said Web URL (which won't have your streamkey or password on it), please post it so I can take a look and see if I can help you.

Now as to OBS and posting a log with the error in it, those details are in a sticky post at the top of the forum: https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/include-a-log-file-if-you-have-a-problem-heres-how.16957/
So open OBS, hit the "start Streaming" button, let the error come up, hit okay, and repeat 2 more times. Then hit the upload current log, and post it here.

As to what a successful connection looks like in a log:

09:43:17 PM.008: [rtmp stream: 'simple_stream'] Connecting to RTMP URL rtmp://live-jfk.twitch.tv/app...
09:43:17 PM.788: [rtmp stream: 'simple_stream'] Connection to rtmp://live-jfk.twitch.tv/app successful
09:43:17 PM.794: ==== Streaming Start ===============================================
09:43:21 PM.334: [rtmp stream: 'simple_stream'] User stopped the stream
09:43:21 PM.334: Output 'simple_stream': stopping
09:43:21 PM.334: Output 'simple_stream': Total frames output: 186
09:43:21 PM.334: Output 'simple_stream': Total drawn frames: 259
09:43:21 PM.337: ==== Streaming Stop ================================================

Something unsuccessful would have some type of error message somewhere around there.

Perhaps you should link to the website of this iShout?
Also what did you configure in Settings -> Stream?
