the alignment of my different captures keeps changing

Apologies beforehand because I don't really know all the right terms. OBS keeps changing the alignment of my different captures, which is pretty annoying because for my purposes they have to stay aligned according to a specific stencil. I don't know when it happens because I start streaming, everything is fine, then I switch to my full-screen game and start playing, and the commentator who restreams my feed says that it's out of alignment. They've said to make sure the lock icon is enabled, which it is, but it still won't stay put. What am I missing?

To address the original question, this could be caused by a few things.
1) In your OBS preview, are sources moving/changing when you swap? If not, this may be an issue on your commentator's end. ESPECIALLY if they're restreaming your content.
2) On each source in your scene, you can right-click the sources in the Sources list, go to Transform, Edit Transform. Set a Bounding Box type (usually 'scale to inner bounds'), set an Alignment, then set up the Bounding Box Size to fit your stencil, and the Position to place it precisely. Then you turn on the padlock icon in the Sources list. This should guarantee that even if your source size changes (eg: a capture card that normally gets a 1080p signal gets handed a 480i signal) that the positioning and scaling should remain the same, relative to the scene.

All of the points cyclemat brought up are VERY valid though. You have some issues that really need to be fixed, to make everything run smoother and more reliably.

Thank you for the replies! For the general points:
  • does it matter whether it's McAfee or jut Windows Defender for OBS or are you just roasting me in general? :p
  • it's low resolution because the restreamer streams it at that resolution so in my mind it didn't make sense to put it any higher (it's for Classic Tetris - I play emulator but others play on original CRT so it's not like we need HD quality anyways)
  • I have to stream over WiFi because I don't have a cable :(
  • I'd already had the issue of black screen so I fixed it by following the instructions in your link - however they're outdated so I had to freestyle a bit and that's probably where it went wrong. Do I just switch to the other card then?
for the specific issue: the sources do move in my OBS preview, the problem does not come from the restreamer's side. I just tried seeing what specifically triggers it, and going fullscreen on my game mucks it all up. Then I followed the steps you provided, and that seems to have fixed it.
Thank you very much!

McAfee and Norton actually can cause issues due to their scanning methods, and sometimes not keeping their databases up to date. Many people end up with random files from OBS getting 'quarantined' by certain AV software. It wouldn't apply in this case.

I'd strongly recommend getting one. They're cheap, can be run creatively, and are MUCH more reliable than wifi... especially in throughput-critical applications like livestreaming.

Here's the link to the updated instructions, for Win10 1903 and later:
Again, not really going to be relevant to this issue, but handy to have around. :)

Glad to hear it! Not sure why it would be doing that, but I'm guessing OBS got a little confused when you go fullscreen and the resolution of the source changed mid-capture. But yeah, I do the same thing for my capture cards when playing on classic consoles... resolution Fun(tm) is intrinsic with those, popping between 240p, 480i, and 480p. Cheers!
