Question / Help Taking to long to encode: Skipping

I've been trying to record for my youtube channel, and it used to work fine, but for the past month or so it's been skipping parts of my video and therefore I can't effectively record. The only thing I've come up with is occasionally it says "Taking to long to encode: skipping" or something along those lines.

You're using a low speed dual core CPU and HD4000 integrated video, which is completely underpowered for the settings you're trying to use. Downscale the output resolution to 2.00 (possibly further, you'll have to test it) and try changing your preset to superfast or ultrafast.

This is probably a really stupid question, but how do I do that? I rarely mess with the settings beyond what the suggestions thing suggested.
