Hi, sorry if this is the wrong spot. I've been trying to set up my live stream for weeks now. I'm not one to jump in and ask for help immediately without doing my own research. Here's where I'm at. I have a Sony a7iii, a MacBook mid 2012 running Catalina, a cam link 4k, and OBS. I've watched hours of youtube videos, read tons of tutorials online, looked for the cam link instructions, and just played with configurations for days. I'm stumped. I'm simply trying to do a straight up live stream from my Sony to Facebook live or Youtube and it just looks terrible. It really doesn't look any better than if I'd just use my phone. I have a feeling I'm just not configured right and would like to know what I should be using for setting on both platforms from the camera, to obs, to the platforms. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Include a log file if you have a problem: here's how

You may just be out of luck on that hardware, though. MacBooks aren't generally well suited for streaming with OBS; older ones especially so.
ohhh no. I think you figured it out. I have a second gen 2.5 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5. When I bought the Camlink i just saw the minimum i5 processor requirement and thought I was safe. Dang. I don't know if there's anything I can do but get a new computer at this point. Wow, what a bummer. My computer works great for the most part, but as I get into video I'm finding out that I just need more processing power. I wonder if there's a work around until I can make that happen. I'm open to suggestions. Thanks

If you post a logfile I can suggest some settings that might work for you, but running OBS on MacBooks generally requires certain compromises in terms of quality.

Ok. I'm working on that. It's not giving me the option under the help drop down. I'm trying to figure it out. I'll post asap. Thanks

for what it’s worth to anyone that may have the same problem, I came to the conclusion that my computer was just to old and weak. The processor was too small and didn’t even meet the specs that are required on the Camlink box. Oops. My bad. I’ve since acquired a new gaming pc and I’m working on getting that going. Thanks
