Syphon Client isn't transparent in OBS Studio

Hi, I have downloaded ProPresenter 7 to use with OBS Studio 27.2.4 for my church services. I have set up everything in ProPresenter to use with a transparent background and when in the settings of the Syphon Client Source in OBS Studio, it shows as transparent (I made sure to click allow transparency) however when I clicked done, it still has a background in OBS Studio. Please Help.

OBS has a default background of solid black. No option to change that except to cover it with something non-transparent. Then something transparent over *that*, will show that instead of the default black.

OBS accepts transparency as input, but does not output transparency. Hence the solid black behind everything.

Hi, so I've been trying to find ways around it, ChatGPT suggested using a virtual Syphon Camera, however OBS doesn't seem to see it. Have you heard of using this successfully. I am considering updating OBS Studio as well i'm just weary of doing so and having even more issues, especially since i'm not the most comfortable with Mac Computers.

ChatGPT and other machine-learning assistants still have a long way to go. They can fool people now, with their conversational ability, but that means nothing about their accuracy. The general approach now, seems to be to spit out some random result from a search engine, let you tell it how badly it failed, and refine from there, conversationally.

As a lot of people continue to use it, it'll probably get better at giving a decent answer the first time, but we're still very much in the early days, where a dice roll might actually be better.

I was dealing with this issue earlier this week, the source of the problem was actually from ProPresenter. I believe in the latest update they introduced alpha key for syphon client displays (used to only be for NDI). When you configure the screens in ProPresenter go to your syphon client configuration that’s sending a feed to OBS. There is an “Alpha Key” tab, click that and make sure to select “Straight” from the dropdown menu. I hope this helps!
