Question / Help Syncing Elgato with OBS Studio, but unable to hear my own game audio through my headphones

Hello
So I am attempting to connect my switch with Elgato Capture to use through OBS Studio
It is obviously delayed with game sync and audio sync and my webcam sync, as Elgato does, but i found out how to fix that through a filter.
I have a PC monitor that has an HDMI input that I use for playing console, and an audio jack in the back which i plug my headphones into.
Here is the problem, when I load up OBS Studio and preview the switch gameplay via Elgato, I immediately stop hearing the game audio from my own headphones. OBS is still detecting the audio and my mic, but I cant hear my own game and I need to be able to.
Solutions?

Don't know if this is the *exact* issue I had before, but I have a solution. Assuming you have the Elgato card's source set as a "video capture device", right click on that source, click "properties", and scroll down to the very bottom. You should see an option that says "audio output mode", and you want to set that to "output desktop audio (WaveOut)". This will allow you to use your PC headphones or sound system (whatever you have plugged in) instead of needing to plug a pair of headphones into the monitor directly. I don't know about you, but my earbuds suck compared to my headphones I normally use.
Other than that, if you really want to use your earbuds in monitor, I find that you have to keep the monitor on the same input as the game, or you don't get the audio from it. Don't know if that helps, but the first thing should work no problem!

Use audio monitoring and NOT use the audio output mode of waveout or directsound. Using that audio output mode introduces performance problems.

To use the Audio Monitoring feature, click Edit -> Advanced Audio Properties and set Audio Monitoring to either Monitor Only, or Monitor and Output. Monitor Only will not output that device's audio to your stream/recording. Audio for that device will be played out of your system default device, unless otherwise specified in Settings -> Advanced.

Ok strangest thing, I got my game audio to play correctly through my headphones plugged into my monitor, and OBS is capturing the audio just fine, but now it isnt picking up my mic in the recording. the audio bar is moving when i talk so it can hear me. it must be something in this scene because i tried testing my mic while recording in another scene and it worked just fine. Ideas?

Huh, that might solve the issue I had of the audio and video slightly desyncing. Never knew what the source of that problem was! Dunno about your mic problem though...
