Question / Help Syncing audio with webcam - impossible?

I've been trying to record from a webcam (tried both my laptop's built-in one as well as a dslr though a usb3 capture card (acts like a webcam). When I record, the audio is pretty much immediate, but the video lags about .2 seconds behind (so the words don't match mouth movements).

I have read some people saying that there is just going to be video lag nomatter what.

Is that the case? or is it a matter of processor speed?

If there is no way to fix video lag, can we do it in OBS where we cause the audio to lag as well (.2 seconds). If we could do that, I could record with synced AV.

You can't un-delay the video. Delay your audio to match. If you only need to sync up the mic then use the sync offset option under Settings > Audio. If you need to sync up multiple audio sources then switch to OBS Studio as it makes the process much easier.

Ok, I'm following what you're saying there. In OBS Studio, where is the audio delay setting though? Thanks

Click the cog/gear icon above the audio mixer.
Turns out I was backwards in this. Its actually the video that is ahead of the audio, so I need to delay the video 2 seconds. Is there a video delay setting in OBS studio (I did look through settings)

Yes, you can add an async delay filter to the cam. Right-click on the video capture source > Filters.
