Question / Help Switching to headset mic, webcam does not display

Ok so here is my problem. When my comp uses the webcams mic, the webcam display itself works but mic picking up my voice is really soft. When i tried switching the mic to my headset, the webcam now does not work. Is there a way to make it so I dont use the webcams mic but onli the video option and use my headsets mic.

Show/make me a log file where the webcam fails, if at all possible, and post it here.
