Hi i'm trying to setup the broadcast on my laptop as it better then using my desktop as it got a webcam and what not. I've got it setup fine on my desktop but when it comes to doing it on my laptop it's a lot more challenging .

So I have used the search function around theses forums and can't get the answer i'm looking for.

So i have a laptop with switchable graphics from the integrated intel 4000 HD and 7970m graphic card. I have tryed setting the program to run at high performance and have also the most up to date drivers. I have heard something about OpenCL but don't really understand what that is if any one could help that would be fantastic! :)

Isn't there some way you can simply force the laptop to use the 7970m? Disabling the integrated Intel somehow? It is not something you can force out of OBS. OBS is a streaming program, not a system tweak/configuration tool.

Regarding OpenCL -- it is a technology that allows for non-graphics computations to be done with the use of the GPU (the graphics processor). In the case of OBS it can help to off-load some of the encoding from the CPU to the GPU and allow you to gain some CPU cycles that way.

Yes I have try to force it to use just my graphics card but there's no way in the bios to do that and i think the was it designed to and I've set all my system performances to use the GPU whenever possbile.

Ah OpenCL won't really help me much there my processor just fine anyway with all the processing and stuff so that isn't going to do much i guess.

I don't have experience with AMD Mobile Graphic Chipsets, but in general you don't ever want to disable the integrated Intel videocard, as this is the device that ends up delivering the image to the screen whether you're using the secondary videocard or not. When the secondary videocard is being used, it merely processes the graphics and sends the final bitmap frames to the Intel videocard for it to send it to the screen. So don't ever disable the integrated videocard.

About forcing the usage of the dedicated videocard, be sure to check several things.

Have you installed the most recent drivers? If not, be sure to download them from AMD.com. When you have done so, head into the Catalyst Control Center (rightclick on the desktop) and check if there's anything there you can configure in regards of switchable graphics.

A quick Startpage search reveals that apparently it might be an issue with the HD 7xxx mobile chipset series. I wouldn't know myself though, and I don't believe much of what is said on the internet ;)

Yeah thanks for the reply I've had another search around the forums and net and it appears something to do with not being able to make it the main GPU in the setting because they are disable it said something about updating the bios etc which isn't something I'm willing to try as it unstable.

It looks like I've got some more testing to do tonight i will get it to work by all means necessary I'm sure there's a simple solutions I'm missing.
