Question / Help Switch runs ndi and send and receive 146mbps. Plug in internet cable to swtich it goes to 12.3

I didn't have this issue untill a few days ago and can't figure out what happened. I run dual pc setup with ndi for obs. Obs picks up stream fine on streaming pc untill I plug in internet cable from modem into switch. Anyone have any suggestions? I have tried just about all i can think of.
 
You should not be connecting your modem to a switch, it should be plugged into a router. Otherwise only one device will get an IP and all kinds of other bad things will happen.

I did not have an issue with this at and have been streaming for two or three weeks like this. Why would it do this now? I was under the impression a switch would do a good enough job for this and it was untill few days ago.
 
Just to check, there is only a single ethernet port on your modem? Many ISPs provide combination modem / router devices these days.

My ISP provided me with a modem/router like this also, but they deliver it configured, and we, costumers don´t have access to the password in order to change anything. I tried to connect a second PC on a second ethernet port and didn´t work. Would it be disabled ? Strange !
 
It's possible in these cases for the provider to disable some of the ethernet ports.

In this case it's perfectly fine to connect a switch one of the LAN ports that works.

I suspect this is happening. They don´t want us to connect many computers on the same account. They always advice costumers that they guarantee internet for 1 computer plugged on the router. Clients must purchase a switch if they want to distribute internet connections. So, my modem/router is connected to a switch, and my computers also. Everything was fine. The problem I discovered recently is that the speed between 2 or my computers is not stable ( 1Gbps ) which should translate as something as 107MB/s copying and writting files from one machine to the other. Sometimes this speed drops to mere 10 or 5 or whatever. Then, I disconnect, reconnect cables, turn off and on the switch, mess with PCs and it returns to normal. I don´t know what´s happening. They are 2 almost identical PCs, i7 2600k, 16Gb ram, SSDs, GTX780, native intel 1Gbps ethernet. One of the PCs has 2 ethernet cards, I once used a cable connected directly from one PC to the other, and got the best speed, but making so, the second PC internet connection becomes dependent from the first one which has internet on the other ethernet port.
 
Appreciate the reply's. Maybe it was only working when I had it in a certain port. Just odd that it worked fine for two weeks. Going to most likely purchase a router and hope it fixes the issue but I may try switching between the 4 Ethernet ports on the modem/router that came with cable connection because I can't remember if i've tried that yet.
