Hey,

I'm captureing on my twitch channel all gaming stuff (twitch.tv/zakuma666) and I bought an i7 2600k CPU that I can better stream my old Phenom II 965 was too slow for 720p.

But support OBS hyperthread technology? Or can I deactivate it for better OC Temps?

Greetings Zakuma

(Sorry for the bad english I'm not native english I'm coming from GER)

The encoding process is done by x264 and x264 does in fact support multiple cores and threads. Might I note however that disabling HT in an OC-ed CPU really is kind of defeating the purpose of the OC though.

disabling ht for oc purposes would destroy the whole idea of buying an i7 over an way cheaper i5 which could do the same clockrate .... so no

btw since i streamed with an i5 2500k @ 4,3ghz with 720@60 and got around 80-90% cpu usage while playing

and now with an i7 2700k@ 4ghz ht obviously still enabled same settings my cpu is at around 20-35% while playing so its worth going with an i7 for streaming but its obviously not worth to disabling ht for oc purposes.

btw my i7 is running with an thermalright macho 120 aftermarket cooler at 25°C idle and around 30-33°C when using for desktop work and while gaming+streaming not over 60°C
