1st thing...thanks for taking a moment to read my post. :)

I also posted this in another forum . I am currently using both Xsplit or OBS trying to see which i like. Both have strengths and both have weak points.. so if this post looks familiar its because i posted this in both forums for ideas and feedback :)

2nd sorry if my post is remotely epic in size but i want you clear on my thinking.
here we go.

Currently i am streaming using a 2 pc system. Its very efficient and produces very good quality streams since the second Pc is dedicated to only processing the stream itself. I am usually able to stream at 720 60 fps with 0 frames lost and medium-fast preset. I have done it at slow preset and it works fine just very little difference in the actual quality for the extra cpu load and heat.

That system is on an I7 970 6 core proc (stock speeds), 8 gigs ram and utilizes a Avermedia hd cap card on the lastest xplit.

My gaming pc is an I7 3570k (@ 4.2 ghz)with 16 gigs ram and a single GTX 780

both pc's on w7 64 bit

This set-up although producing great results also chews a lot of electricity. when gaming its as much as almost 800w combined. May not sound like much to some , but there is a difference in my hydro bill when im not streaming vs when i do a lot in a month and its not small change..lol..

For efficiency and because i can repurpose my current streaming rig for something else( a disabled family friend with no $$ but loves gaming so why not help the guy) and my current gaming rig can be repurposed to my office.I was looking at a single build that would be able to process h264 signal for a 720 60 fps stream or a potentially 900p 30-45 fps stream AND play a game like an mmo (swtor , ESO when it comes out etc) or metro last light at the same time by maybe setting the affinity on the processor cores ..or not and just let the system decide.

I was shopping around and saw the I7 4930k http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.as ... 6819116939 this processor with a new Mobo with my current 16 gigs of ram and reusing pretty much everything else i have like my ssd , PSU etc i think should be able to do the job.

so what the thoughts... I7 4930k...for gaming and processing the stream for 720@ 60 fps or possibly 900 p at 30-45 fps. I'm not really worried about 1080p at all. I think TBH 900p looks amazing and saves on bandwidth and cpu cycles.

My upload is 10 mb and is very reliable and i have unlimited bandwidth with Rogers Cable In Ontario. The only reason i am considering this is this would be my last build for many years (usually around 5) and looking for bang for my buck to continue gaming for many years and streaming with enough overhead to enable a few future upgrades in hardware and i think the i7 4930k has that over head.

Stream Pc : i7 970(stock), 8 gigs ram, gtx 480, avermedia HD cap card, w7 64
Game PC: i7 3570k (@4.2ghz) , 16 gigs ram, GTX780, W7 64 bit
Internet speeds : 125mb/down + 10mb/up
