Question / Help Suggested computer requirements

I've tried OBS on both if my laptops and the lag is terrible. I only want to use it for video editing for YouTube. I record on a camera and upload the video files and go in to do transitions, green screen, and graphic inlays and the things just bog down.

Im thinking of getting a dedicated computer, probably a desktop, for video editing but I dont want to spend the kind of money most are spending for a live streaming gaming system.

I was told to look for an i5 or higher processor and about 32GB Ram.

Anyone have any recommendations for a cheaper route or a basic needs computer?

Thanks

Cheaper than an i5?

No, not really.

I would suggest a Turing chip Nvidia card like a 1650 Super or 1660 as I think they represent the best bang for the buck these days in terms of encoding performance per dollar, and having one reduces the importance of your CPU, performance-wise.
