Question / Help Suddenly can not stream anymore!? [solved]

Hello,

First of all I would like to say big thanks for the software, it is really great, yet I have ran in to a problem that I can not fix myself so lets hope you guys can help me out!

So yeah, what happened is that, yesterday I streamed for an hour everything was working perfectly, the viewers were satisfied with quality and so on, then I took a thirty minute break closed OBS, after coming back for some odd reason it does not work anymore, I did not change anything in settings and now all I get is black screen (no sound, no video) on stream, yet it does come up for a sec once in a while, but literally for a second and then sometimes only sound or sometimes sound with picture.

Thought maybe that is twitch's fault or maybe my ISP so I just went to sleep, but after first part of the day I had a chance to try it out again and sadly nothing has changed. I will be very thankful for your advice on this problem.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Suddenly can not stream anymore!?

I suggest using the game capture hotkey function. Set the hotkey in the game capture source properties, load up your game, hit start streaming, then go into game and press the hotkey. Should be more reliable about reacquiring.

Re: Suddenly can not stream anymore!?

If it's briefly showing red, but not showing any dropped frames in the log, it's fine. Red just means the buffer is full, and if it's only red for a moment or two, it's fine.

I'm unfortunately unable to provide any insight why your streams aren't showing video/audio. There doesn't seem to be anything wrong in the logs =/ Common reasons for this would be game capture not acquiring, or not having sources in your scene, and having audio inadvertently muted or the wrong audio device selected.

edit: smking, I notice you only appear to have a text source and an image source in your scene.

Thanks for quick respond, yes i only used it to be sure i was just catching something but nothing worked, game capture/window capture/monitor capture/everything the same. @ Twitch.tv dashboard tells me "excellent" about my stream-config.

I have no clue what to do, maybe something has recently been patched, and made this bug?

EDIT:
Twitch shows 1 frame, then black screen untill restart and always when i press "stop stream" twitch start to work 2 seconds before go offline.

That's strange, that log doesn't seem to indicate that anything is wrong. Are you able to record to file?

Yes, i did just try that and it worked perfect with write file to disk.

EDIT: WTF, so i just restarted OBS and tried go livestream again and it works again without freeze!
No idea what fixed this problem, but try write a local file then go back 2 livestream.

Thanks jim and all quick responders!
A happy streamer again :)

Re: Suddenly can not stream anymore!?

Twitch was having a few ingest issues earlier (as mentioned on Twitter), I think about the time you were having problems. They were very recently fixed (within the last two hours or so of this post, pretty sure) so that could explain your temporary issues.
