Whilst I understand you are both saying that something that is taking 23ms should only be taking 16 or less for 60fps can i ask 2 questions:

1) What is the process that needs to be quicker than 16ms and how can i speed this up? My rig is a pretty quick machine...16gb quick ram, Asus Ranger Maximus VII motherboard, I7 4790k processor and GTX 980 gpu. Not sure what the weakest link here is?

2) Is the process you are talking about which needs to be faster independent of resolution? Is my PC's 23ms time likely to come down if I go to 1080p? for example?

1> you need to get the WHOLE rendering process from generating the frame to saving it to the disk done in under 16ms for 60fps.

2> considering that you'd be going from trying to render 3,686,400 pixels per frame to 2,073,600 pixels per frame, yeah it is likely to come down.

OK, thanks. I guess I need to do some tests at 1080p

Is this an issue most people have trying to record 1440p video at 60fps? Or am I just unlucky?

Its possible. I only run the game on the 1440p monitor though. the other 2 have web pages and stuff like TS3 and OBS on them
