Hey everyone,
I’m running into an issue with OBS (or possibly my Elgato) where my recordings begin to stutter after a certain amount of time. Here’s my setup and the issue in detail:
I recorded around 13 hours of Batman: Arkham Asylum without any issues. Currently, I’m about 35 hours into Batman: Arkham City, and I experienced stuttering once after around an hour of recording.
However, when recording Call of Duty or Fortnite, the stuttering starts anywhere from 15 minutes to 1 hour into the session every time. OBS shows 60/60 FPS and low CPU usage throughout, so I’m unsure what’s causing it.
Has anyone encountered a similar issue or have any insight on what might be causing this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

- RAM: 64GB
- Storage: 2TB SSD (1TB+ free)
- Recording Path: Directly to internal SSD
- Capture: 1440p 60Hz passthrough (from 120Hz Xbox Series X)
- OBS Settings:
- Encoder: Apple TV HEVC Hardware
- Rate Control: CRF
- Quality: 80
- FPS: 60
- CPU usage: ~6% during recording
- Recording Duration: Typically 2 hours per day
