Question / Help Stupidly Low FPS even when just previewing

Problem is not with my internet as i have the low FPS during recording and even preview - does this mean it's my hardware?

Basically OBS used to be fine and i could stream at 30 FPS (not amazing but did the job) but within the past month it has all changed and i dont know why, my FPS drops from 30 to around 10 FPS when i play a gain and that's just in the 'preview stream' tab.

I've messed around for weeks with various settings - even overclocking my GPU but i really dont know what to do now. As im not that much of a technical guy, any help would be much appreciated (and please dumb it down haha).

make sure xbox gamedvr is disabled in windows 10. also steam's broadcast function is as well. Also, are you streaming directly from the minecraft app as well?

your CPU is a well known for not performing like a quadcore when streaming so I would expact this to be borderline. meaning, if you start to run addons in minecraft, expect issues.

Hey, I'm not streaming minecraft, i play games like CS:GO and CoD

your log shows you streaming java.exe not csgo.exe or cod.exe...

CS:GO uses 3+ threads and you only have 4 cores (2x 2shared cores) meaning all around low performance. I would recommend downscaling to about 1.5x in the video tab of OBS.

ah sorry bro, was playing Layers of Fear, but the problem is the same across all games, i can play then fine with fps around 60 but obs drops to around 10. so is the problem with my CPU? (i've tried video downscaling but it doesnt affect my fps)

check to disable gamedvr and steam's broadcast function like I said before. your log looks alright.

OBS seems to be doing alright with your CPU but the thing is
you need to set base resolution to what your monitor's resolution is in OBS. it seems you play at 4:3 aspect so expect black borders for cropping.

What is all this crap under your game capture. under means it will not display over top of the other items in the scene. like if you had an overlay.
