Question / Help Struggling to Record Gameplay

Hello Everyone,

I've been struggling a lot with making the transition to OBS Studio I like it's extra features but I've had trouble finding recording settings that work for me and hopefully if you guys could help out it would be appreciated.

My Current Computer Specs:

- i7 3770 (Non K)
- R9 270
- 16GB RAM

So I've been looking to record gameplay on games such as CSGO and Battlefield at 1080p 60fps for youtube and whatever settings I use in simple mode either come out looking awful or are very stuttery. I have messed around with a few settings without result in advanced mode so I'm kind of stuck at the moment. All the tutorials on youtube for OBS Settings are all like use the Nvidia Codec which Obviously I don't have since I have an AMD Card so I'm kinda at a lost cause here can you guys leave me some setting recommendations?

Thanks,

Biscuit

If you're recording gameplay to post on YouTube later, and you're not streaming anything, then this guide is a good place to start. If you're not doing multiple audio tracks or anything fancy, then using the Simple Output Mode might be easier than tweaking the settings in Advanced Output Mode. Try that and see it if meets your needs.

If you really want to dig into Advanced Output Mode settings, then the guide goes into that a little as well. If you're going that route, you may also be interested in the AMD encoder plugin that is in the works. It's still a work in progress, so expect some issues, especially since your card only supports older AMD standards/specs (GCN First Gen, VCE 1.0).
