I moved my Elgato Capture to the Xbox One and was going to stream from there instead when trying to use the OBS software I get a black screen with the game audio only but no video. Is the OBS software not compatible with the Xbox one?

OBS doesn't know nor care about what device is attached to your Elgato, it just displays whatever the Elgato sends. Sounds like a problem with your connection between the xbox and the Elgato.

Try turning the Xbox all the way off by holding the button down and then rebooting. I ran into the same problem with the Xbox One because so of the apps on the Xbox use HDCP and because of that active it for the entire Xbox until it is shut off.

Thank you for being helpful. I tried turning the Xbox off and then restarting and I still get a black screen instead of video. Can you share your OBS settings?

Does it work in the Elgato program?

As R1CH already said, this has nothing to do with the fact that it's an Xbox One. If it's working in the Elgato program but not OBS, then you have the Elgato settings wrong in OBS. If it's not working in the Elgato program, then it's a problem with the way you're hooking the Xbox up to the Elgato.

Just like I ignored Rich's ignorance I'm going to ignore yours too because obviously you are illiterate as well. It has nothing to do with my capture card as I used OBS fine with the 360. There are plenty of people complaining about BLACK SCREENS now with OBS using the Xbox One so it's not a hardware issue. So if you excuse me I was trying to get information from the only person in here that was actually trying to be helpful which isn't you or Rich.

If you wanted help, that is the wrong way of going about doing it. Insulting my fellow developers and my moderator is a good way to get banned. Don't do it again. If you don't have anything good to say, then don't say anything at all. You were under no obligation to respond to them in the first place if you didn't want advice. Though, if you didn't want to listen to what the developers of the program had to say, I wonder why on earth you would even be on our forums anyway, as that sort of defeats the purpose.

That being said, it is exactly as R1CH said. OBS connects not to the xbox one, but to the elgato.

I fixed the problem myself and it had to do with the OBS software but thanks. I'll take the ban what's the point of being here if no one has a clue as to what the fuck is going on.

PS.

Happy Thanksgiving.

The common problems with Xbox One and black screens are actually to do with the HDCP system in the Xbox One, if you stream any type of video/watch a bluray or use the TV features HDCP will be activated and will not disable it until you basically unhook the console from the power, as soon as you use TV features/video etc it will reactivate and the Elgato will fail to capture because of that.

Other problems are simply people not selecting the correct options in the "configure" section of the device properties.

OBS Doesn't know what's connected to your Elgato, all it sees is the video feed sent from the Elgato just like when any other console connected to it, OBS doesn't know what an Xbox or a Nintendo is.

You'll find this same information on the Elgato support website.

You might also want to show some respect to the moderators and developers, OBS is a free and open source piece of software and they give tech support and man hours for free without any obligation to do so.

Btw Jim lets go one step further and delete my whole account if that isn't your "power" if you are capable of knowing where to direct me to have it done I would appreciate it. Thanks.
