Well, after trying out obs i can say i love it so much more than xsplit i have no frame issues or upload issues, i upload at 3500kb/s with 160kb/s audio.

Test video:http://www.twitch.tv/darkfilter/c/2914452
(2 Hours w/no Drop)(ps. Forgot to add other dudes mic :L)

Im just wondering if theres a way i can improve the quality during high motion scene changes, I mainly play all shooters/games at 60fps and also stream at 60 fps. Also, if you think im just being picky just tell me. i understand.

I Capture Using My HDPVR into Window Capture, i dont think it puts that into the Log.

Looking good; can I ask why you're using an HDPVR at all? That's necessary sometimes under XSplit due to their poor capture code (or alternately using DXtory), but unless you're playing on a console and *need* the capture card (for obvious reasons), it's generally faster, smoother and more efficient all around to use OBS's native Game Capture instead, or directly Window Capture (with Aero enabled) the game itself.

Likewise, if you're using 1920x1080 as a true desktop resolution, using that as OBS's base res and downscaling with the Lanczos filter method will give you much better results than just squashing it down with the resize function.

Other bits to bear in mind are that Twitch servers dislike dealing with anything over 3500kbps, and even then they're strained... Twitch official position used to be to use 3000 as maximum. Now they're dropping that to 2500, and some staffers have been making noise about using 2000 as a target instead. You may not drop any frames, but the remote servers may not be able to keep up with your bitstream, running right at the limit.

I really find that 2500-2700kbps at 720@60 to be entirely workable; it's not BD 1080p quality to be sure, but it's more than enough and leaves the Twitch servers some wiggle-room.

Silly me, sorry i do use the hdpvr to stream console sorry, ive been thinking about getting the live gamer hd, as well sometimes the hauppauge decide's to not even work.

Ahh. Well, I'd still try turning down your bitrate to 3K as a test to see if it might be an issue on the Twitch end. Do you notice any blurriness in the captured video window? Some capture cards can similarly have encoding issues, but I haven't paid them too much attention thus far (again, not really useful if you're gaming and streaming from the same system). I've heard good things about the Blackmagic Intensity Pro. The Live Gamer HD apparently will work OK, but has some issues with accurate color reproduction, though I'm not sure if that's using their software (and the onboard encoding, which looks like crap) or an issue with the card itself.

Only bit I can see that'd otherwise be worrying would be that you appear to be spending a LOT of time in the 'preprocessing and rendering' step, which appears to be causing late (lagged) frames. Normally I see that if someone is using a Monitor Capture, though you don't seem to be... I can only assume it's the Medium preset you're using. You might want to consider moving to the Fast preset instead, and see if that takes care of the late/lagged frames, as those can cause your stream to stutter and look poor on fast motion/quick movements as well. The quality difference between Fast and Medium is quite small, and it'd be worth a shot. All trial and error at this point to find that sweet spot.

Im Hoping when i get a capture card that i can directly feed into obs that i will see an improvement on that also, ill be getting a live gamer hd the next time i get paid, unless you say other wise :3, ill move it to faster/fast, but i really dont think its a bit rate issue. or more likely the lack of bit rate is the issue and im just reaching a limitation. the reason im thinking that is is its a 60fps stream with 3500kbs so that meaning every frame gets (3500/60=1f) Right? but a 30fps stream gets (3500/30=1f)... however the video wont be a smooth then.

At the moment i dont notice any blurryness with hight bitrate, however this card is usb based, and has a varied delay time on what it sends to the computer.

No. If every frame, at 60 frames per second, would get 3500kbit then you would need 210Mbit/s upload to stream and the same in download to watch. That might not have been your question but that's how I interpreted it. The bitrate is for all the frames in that second, frames that look-a-like require less bitrate than those that drastically change. If you "only" capture frames every 33.3ms (30FPS) instead of every 16.667ms (60FPS) of a second then there would probably be less change (less change in total over all the frames) in a second, if you get what I mean.

That wasn't the question, my calculation was to divide the bitrate by the fps, meaning that one frame would only have this allocated bit rate(3500/60=1f) 1f being 1 frame and its corresponding bitrate. . where as a lower frame rate would mean less frames, but then that frame now has access to double the bit rate than it had before.

Edit: im sure its does not work exactly that way, however there has to be a noticeable change for half the fps other than the smoothness of the footage.

The picture quality of each frame should go up if you drop to 30fps. You can always experiment with it. It's always tough with high-motion games.
