Streaming to twitch via obs

I have twitch setup I dl obs and put the twitch key in.
Opened obs and put in settings.
I have a startech hdmi to USB and hooked up my camcorder. I plugged it into the computer but only see the preview screen with a camera symbol.
What am I doing wrong?
Very frustrated
Need to stream a wedding in a couple weeks.
Will setup a laptop next to me at the church and hook camcorder to it.

Looking at Startech's website, that's not a video capture device but a USB video display device
You'll need something like an Elgato CamLink to capture the video from your camcorder
